Friends of Franz Podcast S2 E12: The Most Trusted Profession with Nurse Clara Jones

According to a 2015 national data qualitative study, a group of sourced reasons why people avoid medical care were interpersonal causes: communication issues, lack of trust, perception of discrimination, and the belief that healthcare professionals do not actually care about them. These are concrete concerns as we often hear of patients' experiences of dismissal and invalidation of their questions and feelings. Despite these, nurses are ranked to be the Most Trusted Profession for the past 21 years in a row, according to a Gallup poll. What is it about the nursing profession and its workers that the public persistently marks them as trustworthy? Do nurses provide a safe space within the tumultuous field of healthcare? Are patients' sentiments about their care heavily influenced by nursing care?

We are joined today by Clara Jones (known online as Nurse Clara), a board-certified nurse practitioner from Atlanta, nursing content creator, and founder of The Asian Care Unit (ACU), an online community for networking, mentorship, empowerment, and self-reflection within the Asian and Pacific Islander healthcare industry. In this episode, we tackle all things nursing and its entailed complexities, pressures, and beauty.
